This week's new clubs

Warm, London Since the release of his tremendous psychedelic beat-pop collage Swim in 2010, Caribou's Dan Snaith has been edging ever closer to the murky, nocturnal world of dance music. There have been triumphant main room sets at Fabric, pulsating remixes for Junior Boys and Chicago house act Virgo Four, and the creation of a dedicated new techno alias, Daphni. It all augurs well for the next Caribou album, but first there's a DJ date in Peckham with James Holden, the man who originally provided Snaith with his techno epiphany. Holden has latterly appeared with Caribou's experimental offshoot Vibration Ensemble, reflecting the fact that his own DJ sets are becoming increasingly more trippy and bucolic. Having spent the last couple of years developing his Border Community signings, Kate Wax and Nathan Fake, there's apparently new Holden material on the way soon too, some of which will hopefully receive an airing tonight. Bussey Warehouse, SE15, Sat Sam Richards Continue, Manchester One of the less traditional happenings at the city's Sankeys venue, Continue promotes the intriguing post-dubstep sound. Like many such nights, it combines the best of an old-school rave – trusted techno and house – with the adventurous, shifting rhythms, tempos and genres of the UK bass movement. It's not surprising to find them holed up at Sankeys – the club still successfully reinvents itself every few years – but at one session a month, these lads want to make it count. So, after tonight's main stint with Kink (live), Julio Bashmore, Joy Orbison and more, the event decamps to the basement of local bar Cord for a morning-after session where DJs will include Italian guest Neel. Sankeys, Radium Street, Sat; afterparty at Cord Bar, Dorsey Street, Sun Marc Rowlands DMT Valentine's Massacre, Bristol Nothing says "I love you" like an eight-hour, four-arena hardcore, drum'n'bass, techno and hardtek mash-up. So praise be to DMT, who host this soppy-fest in Bristol's rave mecca, Lakota. The main room has hard UK drum'n'bass from Cause4Concern, nutty beats legend Chris Liberator and German hardcore expert Detest. Elsewhere, there's Czech hardtek demon Keygen Kaotic, France's rising hardcore star The Speed Freak, a raggatek assault from DMT's Vandal, and a drum'n'bass room hosted by Captain Crunch. Just add rose and chocolates. Lakota, Upper York Street, Sat John Mitchell Spectrum 3rd Birthday, Dublin As birthday parties go, having two massive international guests on the same club bill has got to beat a big cake. MC, producer, award-winning promoter and DJ Mark System, AKA Digital Soundboy Recording Company, joins the super duo Artificial Intelligence for a night of singularly imaginative drum'n'bass sounds. Sturdy support comes from Nick Fury, Danny Wong and the All City DJs, while the Flashlight afterparty should provide the necessary sparkling finale. Twisted Pepper, Middle Abbey Street, Fri Katrina Dixon Heritage, London There are few records that mark a paradigm shift in dance music as gleefully and emphatically as Double 99's speed garage monster Rip Groove. Fifteen years on from its initial release, it still gets regularly rewound on decks across the globe by big-name DJs such as Oneman and Jackmaster. Now its creators, Tim Deluxe and Omar Adimora, have reunited for a series of much-anticipated DJ dates, as well as reviving their Ice Cream label and signing a clutch of new artists, whose tracks they plan to showcase among their set at a mammoth celebration of UK garage called, appropriately enough, Heritage. Playing alongside Double 99 on Friday are a quartet of DJs – EZ, Sticky, Scott Garcia and Matt Jam Lamont – who've been the valiant keepers of the garage flame in the intervening years, with the whole shebang hosted by original UKG MC Creed. But it's not just a nostalgia-fest: rising London stars Mosca and the duo Dusky are also on hand to pay tribute to the sounds that have inspired them to twist house and garage into innovative and exciting shapes.
