Barbican Weekender , London Putting an end to the problem of what to do in half-term, Barbican's free event takes over the building with family-friendly film, theatre, art, dance and spoken word. Always inventive, the Weekender features social networking bingo, Crafternoon's fashion swap shop, magical storytelling and even a pop-up nail bar. Very modern puppetry from The Little Theatre Of Dolls is not to be missed, while there is an outstanding theatrical piece from the Whalley Range All Stars with their play Pig, which takes place inside a 30ft-long sleeping sow. The Barbican, EC1, Sat, Sun Iain Aitch International Women's Day , Nationwide This week's celebrations of the centenary of International Women's Day run an impressively wide gamut. In London, you can join the Million Women Rise march in Hyde Park from noon, and later laugh at Llewella Gideon's comedy, The Best Of The Little Big Woman. Highlights elsewhere include empowering talks, walks and films, as well as Belfast's reclaiming of street names for notable local woman and, in Bath, Suffragettes' Tree planting.
