Liverpool agree £1m fee for Bayer Leverkusen striker Samed Yesil

Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £1m to sign the striker Samed Yesil from Bayer Leverkusen. The 18-year-old German, who has represented his country at under-16, 17 and 18 level, is a promising young forward who scored six goals for Germany at the Under-17 World Cup last year. Yesil was not involved for Leverkusen, now managed by the former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia, when they played Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Anfield earlier this month but has an impressive goalscoring record at youth level. He will become Brendan Rodgers's fourth summer signing after Fabio Borini, Joe Allen and Oussama Assaidi. Rodgers hopes to make more established signings before Friday's transfer deadline but his prospects are heavily dependent on off-loading players such as Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam.
