Using social media in healthcare seminar: live blog

On Guardian Healthcare Network, we've recognised the increasing role that social media is playing in NHS organisations and third sector bodies across the country, including the ways trusts are using Twitter , how viral videos can spread health messages and how the chief executive of a large strategic health authority used Twitter to get her message across . In each case we've seen how social media can be a cost-effective means of both listening to and engaging with stakeholders. The problem is how to use it in an effective manner that works for both organisation and user. Now, in partnership the community owned social media resource #nhssm and Guardian Seminars , we are running a seminar dedicated to helping healthcare organisations develop a social media strategy. From 11am to 3pm, we'll be live blogging presentations and sharing best practice about where to start and how to develop. Get involved by sending us a comment on the live blog or tweeting us @GdnHealthcare with the #nhssm hashtag which we will be using throughout the day. Speakers Anne-Marie Miller, communications manager, Salford Royal foundation trust Rob Dyson, PR & online engagement manager, Whizz Kidz and founder, Third Sector PR & Communications Network Andrew Stronach, PR consultant and former head of communications, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital foundation trust Angela Cummings, digital manager, Beating Bowel Cancer Using social media in healthcare: This article is published by Guardian Professional.
