Timeline: Royal Park school campaign
Residents in Hyde Park have spent the past six years campaigning to take over the former Royal Park Primary School following its closure in 2004. Earlier this week community ownership of the building - and a cutting edge community hub in the deprived area - moved a step closer to reality as Leeds council's executive board agreed to let the residents-led Royal Park Community Consortium take over the building. They did, however impose a condition that the consortium must secure £750,000 capital funding within the next nine months. In October 2009, the executive board approved the marketing of the property for refurbishment, by inviting unconditional best and final financial offers. Royal Park campaign on Dipity .
