David Haye to wear new England away shirt at Wladimir Klitschko fight

David Haye will wear the England football team's new away shirt on his entrance to the ring when he fights Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg's Imtech Arena on Saturday. The presence of a symbol of English football in a German stadium is only likely to add extra spice to what has been a fractious buildup to the heavyweight unification bout. Haye will officially be the first person to wear the navy blue shirt, made by England's official kit manufacturer, Umbro. Although the colour is a departure from the usual red reverse strip, the makers have taken their inspiration from the blue caps given to England players, as well as the British passport, which was originally blue. The design is an updated version of that used by England during the 1970 World Cup. "It's an honour to represent my country away from home and as a football fan, the opportunity to launch the England away shirt is a huge privilege," Haye said. "I've had several messages of support from the England camp, including Fabio Capello, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand, so I'm determined to put in a strong performance and bring the world title belts back to England. "Like many English sportsmen and women, I've faced opposing fans when I've fought abroad before and tomorrow night being in Germany will be nothing new for me. I know that the support back home is immense." The unveiling will be the second time Umbro has used a celebrity from outside football to launch a new England away shirt abroad. The lead singer of the band Kasabian, Tom Meighan, wore England's previous red jersey for the first time on stage at a concert in Paris last year .
