1948 Olympics: Day 2: Olympic flame fizzles out
Disaster struck on the third day of the 1948 London Olympics when the Olympic flame, which had been burning brightly since the opening ceremony, suddenly went out. Let's hope LOCOG have better contingency plans than a press officer with a box of matches this time round.
