EXPIRED Win tickets to our 'So you want to be a games journalist?' evening on 2 October
Grossing over $50bn a year worldwide and played by more than 125 million people in the UK and US alone, video games are becoming a major cultural force. It's little surprise, then, that more and more people want to write about them professionally. But how do you get started and what skills do you need to become a games journalist? To celebrate the London Games Festival , on 2 October Guardian Extra will be hosting a special event at Guardian HQ for prospective games writers and those who want to find out more about the process of games criticism. A panel of journalists from the Guardian's own team, as well as representatives from leading games magazines and websites, will be on hand to discuss their jobs and take questions from the audience. The event will take place in the Guardian's Scott Room on October 2 2012. Doors open at 5.45pm and the event will start at 6pm sharp. The first 35 people to enter our draw will be allocated a pair of tickets. The draw will close at midnight on Wednesday 26 September.
