Journalist Ella Shanahan dies at 60

Hundreds attended the funeral on Sunday of Ella Shanahan, a former London editor of the Irish Times and Ireland's first female agricultural correspondent. She died on Thursday, aged 60, at her home in Co Waterford. She spent 27 years in two spells at the Irish Times and also worked for RTÉ, becoming one of the country's best-known journalists of her generation.
