My elderly mother is coming to live with us

Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it's up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday's paper. This week's question I have asked my 88-year-old mother to come and live with my husband and me. She will have her own living area and bedroom, and the run of the rest of the place.
