Short films give picture of health through the eyes of young people

Young people in Cardiff have made two short films on youth homelessness and eating disorders to give their perspective on health issues. The videos, made by teenagers from Cardiff Youth Service alongside Cardiff University undergraduates, were screened at Chapter Arts Centre on Wednesday and have now been posted on Youtube in the hope of reaching wider audiences. The films came from the Picture of Health project designed by Cardiff University to engage more young people with public health. Cardiff University undergraduate Sophie, who helped with the project, said: "Young people seem to instinctively engage with this technology and many would rather get their information from the internet than books or professionals" Charlie, 16, from the Youth Service, said: "Young people's thoughts and views are often different to older peoples so it's important that we get the chance to have our say on matters that are important to us." The second video is a hard-hitting look at eating disorders and can be watched on YouTube.
