You Against Me by Jenny Downham - review
You Against Me is about Mikey and Ellie. Mikey's sister has been raped, and Ellie's brother has been accused, yet denies it. They have one thing in common; both believe that their own sibling is absolutely right. When Ellie and Mikey meet, each unaware of who the other is, they fall in love, and the book is a series of ups and downs for them. However their relationship is completely looked down on. I loved the characters; I found them interesting and neither of them tried to play hero, or were particularly brilliant, each had their faults. I thought that the ending was fantastic, and also not too fake and I loved the way that Ellie had originally put a block on her thoughts, so convinced that her brother was right. In a way it is a modern take on Romeo and Juliet, though the consequences are less severe and I found it much more entertaining. I really enjoy Jenny Downham's writing and would also recommend Before I Die by her as well! Want to tell the world about a book you've read? Join the site and send us your review!
