New music: Clark – Secret feat Martina Topley-Bird

Chris Clark is a restless musician, touching on nearly every permutation of electronic music over his prolific career (he's released six EPs and six LPs since 2001). For his forthcoming album, Clark travelled the world for inspiration, recording in Australia, Berlin, Wales, Belgium, Cornwall, Norway and London. For Secret – premiered here exclusively – he fulfilled a long-held dream to work with Martina Topley-Bird. "I've wanted to get Martina on a track for a while now, but really wanted a proper hook/melody and set of lyrics for her to sing," Clark explains, "rather then doing that cliche producer thing of getting 'sexy female vocals chopped up over fat masculine beats'." Perhaps the most joyful thing about Secret is how collaborative it feels, Clark's squelchy drums and delicate guitar intertwining with Topley-Bird's high-wire vocals, which are both sensual and painfully fragile. • Iradelphic is due via Warp on 2 April.
