EXPIRED Handel's Royal Music at the Barbican
After their successful appearance at the Jubilee Pageant earlier this year, the Academy of Ancient Music will conclude a major European tour with a celebratory performance of Handel's most jubilant music at London's Barbican Hall on Wednesday 26 September 2012. The programme includes The Music for the Royal Fireworks , which was written for a public display in Green Park to mark the end of European war; the Coronation Anthems , composed for George II and are still performed at royal occasions today and the Water Music , which accompanied George I during a Thames Pageant in 1717. There will also be a performance of two of the most famous choruses from the Messiah. You can read more about the concert here .
