The week ahead

Every week we look ahead to the key reports, meetings, hearings and news shaping the policy landscape for public services leaders. The National Audit Office has today (Monday 9 January) released its report into how central government departments have implemented the Compact agreement , which sets out shared principles for effective partnership working between the government and voluntary and civil society organisations in England. Tomorrow, we expect a decision from transport secretary Justine Greening on the second installment of high speed rail HS2 . We'll be running a feature on this later in the week The King's Fund is holding a conference looking at how to incentivise quality in the NHS and improve integration between services and the NHS Future Forum publishes its Department of Health commissioned report on public health , including suggestions that patients should be asked about their eating drinking and smoking habits on every visit to fight health problems. On Wednesday, 11 January we host a live Q&A supported by Ernst & Young, looking at the key challenges facing the government and public sector . If people change their behaviour, would that save public services money? - on Wednesday, public services consultancy, iMPOWER releases its research on behaviour change and service demand. We will be running a piece from director Jon Ainger explaining the findings. Three major children's charities to give evidence on child protection to the Commons education committee . On Wednesday evening the New Economics Forum is looking at the benefits of a shorter working week at its event About Time: Examining the case for a shorter working week at the LSE from 6pm. On Friday the Appeal Court is set to rule on proposed government cuts to solar subsidies, ruled illegal by the High Court .
