The Week Ahead: 30/01/12 - 03/02/12

This week is going to be all about transforming public services, with two don't-miss events - our live Q&A on Wednesday on the cost of restructuring public bodies, and the Guardian's Public Services Summit 2012 , where the great and the good of public services will be in St Albans for our flagship event. Meanwhile, at the start of the week, the PAC is taking evidence on reducing bureaucracy in further education on Monday 30 January, while housing minister Grant Shapps faces the Commons communities and local government committee at the close of their inquiry into the financing of new housing supply, at 4.15pm, Grimond Room, Portcullis House. It's a busy week for the PAC - on Tuesday , 31 January, the committee publishes its report on flood risk management. On Wednesday 1 February, don't miss our in-depth live discussion , from 1pm-3pm on the Public Leaders Network, as our expert panel considers the cost of restructuring public bodies. It's a timely online debate, coming as it does just ahead of a Commons public accounts committee (PAC) session, looking at the National Audit Office report on reorganising central government bodies . Given the scathing nature of the NAO report on this topic, MPs aren't likely to give witnesses an easy ride.The main witness will be Ian Watmore, permanent secretary of the Cabinet Office, who gives evidence at 3.15pm in committee room 15. The main event of this week is of course the Guardian's 2012 Public Services Summit , which takes place on Thursday 2 February and Friday 3 February, with keynote speaker Carolyn Downs, chief executive of the Local Government Association. The Public Leaders Network will be strongly in evidence throughout the summit. Our editorial board is attending and we will be blogging live from the event.
