NHS Wales seeks national software deal for GPs

The NHS Wales Informatics Service is looking to set up a framework contract for the supply of a national GP clinical software system. According to a notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 20 May, the key components of the contract are to provide managed services, including ongoing development and upgrades of the GP software, and system functionality to GP practices via a central hosting arrangement. Under the four year deal, the supplier will also provide application support services and a help desk for users. The proposed system will be expected to interoperate with NHS Wales national services, and to meet future service delivery requirements across primary, community and social care settings.
