Man held over Real IRA bomb attack on MI5
Police are questioning a 45-year-old man in connection with the Real IRA bomb attack on MI5's headquarters in Northern Ireland in April. The man was arrested in north Belfast this morning and taken for questioning over the bombing at Palace Barracks in Holywood, County Down. The bomb exploded outside the military base, which also houses MI5's regional headquarters – the largest base for the security services outside London. The explosion happened on 12 April and was timed to coincide with the transfer of policing and justice powers from Westminster to Stormont. A number of previous arrests have been made over the attack but no one has been charged.
