Line of Duty collars 3.4m viewers

BBC2's critically lauded new police drama, Line of Duty, came out on top in the 9pm hour on Tuesday night against Gordon Ramsay's new Channel 4 series. Line of Duty, starring Lennie James as a top detective suspected of corruption, averaged 3.4 million viewers and a 14.7% audience share. Competition included Channel 4's Gordon Behind Bars , in which Ramsay attempts to set up a cookery business with inmates from Brixton prison. Gordon Behind Bars averaged 3 million viewers and a 13% share, just behind BBC1's new series Turn Back Time – the Family, which launched with 3.2 million and 13.9%. Other competition in the 9pm hour included the concluding instalment of ITV1's two-part documentary, Strictly Kosher, which averaged 2.6 million and 11.3%, while Channel 5's CSI had 1.7 million and 7.4%. Titchmarsh goes back to his roots Alan Titchmarsh's new Ground Force meets Surprise, Surprise ITV1 show, Love Your Garden, launched with 3.2 million viewers and a 14.8% share from 8pm. Competition in the 8pm hour included BBC1's Holby City (4.8 million/22.1%), BBC2's Today at Wimbledon (1.6 million/7.3%, including BBC HD), Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies: Live from the Clinic (1.9 million/9%) and Channel 5's Killers behind Bars: the Untold Story (1.4 million/6.3%). I got secrets can't leave Cancun The third series launch episode of MTV's Geordie Shore, Chaos in Cancun, averaged 506,000 viewers and a 2.8% audience share from 10pm on Tuesday. This was the best audience yet for a Geordie Shore launch episode and the show was also the most watched of the day on pay-TV channel.
