Line of Duty adds to Superstar's woes
Hit BBC2 drama Line of Duty beat ITV1's Andrew Lloyd Webber talent contest Superstar with more than 3 million viewers and came within a whisker of eclipsing BBC1. The penultimate episode of the Jed Mercurio thriller had 3.2 million viewers, a 13.7% share, between 9pm and 10pm, including 263,000 on BBC HD. Superstar, the hunt for a lead to play Jesus Christ in a revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, could only manage 2.5 million viewers (11%) between 9pm and 10.30pm. BBC1 documentary Turn Back Time – the Family, narrowly won the slot with 3.3 million viewers, 13.8% of the audience. Also at 9pm, the last of Channel 4's Gordon Ramsay series Gordon Behind Bars finished with 2.2 million viewers (9.1%). Channel 5's US drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was watched by 1.8 million viewers (7.5%). Later following Line of Duty at 10pm, BBC2's topical comedy 2012, whose fictional account of the buildup to the Olympics is in danger of being outdone by the real thing, had 1.5 million viewers, a 7.4% share, including 108,000 on BBC HD.
